Man banned from all town pubs
3:34pm Monday 20th February 2012
A MAN has been jailed for 10 weeks and will be banned from more than 30 Northwich pubs when he is released.
Northwich man Craig Tomlinson, 25, from Edward Street, was arrested after an incident in the Roebuck pub, in Witton Street, on February 4.
He pleaded guilty to criminal damage and public order offences in relation to the incident when he appeared at South Cheshire Magistrates’ Court.
Magistrates imposed the 10-week sentence and the Licenced Premises Exclusion Order, which will be in place for two years.
PC Neil Wharmby, who co-ordinated the investigation, said: "I am pleased that the courts have taken the decision to not just imprison Tomlinson for his conduct that night, but for the decision to impose a restriction on his movements and visits to licenced premises upon his release.
“Tomlinson is prohibited from entering any pub in the Northwich PubWatch scheme.
“Currently this incorporates 30 licenced premises in Northwich.
“We hope that this restriction will help keep the public of Northwich safe in that this individual will not be able to frequent many pubs in the town and consume alcohol, which in Tomlinson′s case often leads to antisocial behaviour or criminality"
Insp Paul Loughlin said: "We will continue to work alongside our partner agencies and the PubWatch scheme members to make our message very clear – drink related anti-social behaviour will not be tolerated in our town and those who involve themselves in this type of conduct will be dealt with appropriately and face the consequences of their actions."
