Match Pointers
NORTHWICH return ‘home’ this weekend when they hope to kick-start their title challenge after back-to-back draws in the Premier Division.
It leaves them two points adrift of top spot.
Managerless Vics have lost only once in their past 13 league and cup encounters – a 2-1 defeat at Stalybridge Celtic in the Cheshire FA Senior Cup – but last won a league match in front of their own fans on December 17.
Vics have beaten the Mariners twice already this term, including a four-goals thrashing in the Doodson Sport Cup, keeping their sheet clean twice too.
Stand-in boss Wayne Porter has everybody available for the start of a crucial seven days in Vics’ season with a trip to table-toppers Hednesford Town next up on Tuesday.
Marine’s 2-1 win at Whitby Town last weekend means they have picked up more points on the road this term – 30 – than any of their rivals in the Northern Premier League’s top tier.
They have won five of their past six away from the Arriva Stadium, losing last on November 12 at North Ferriby United.
Former Northwich stopper Matthew Brown is absent through injury this weekend, while Joe Fowler starts a two-matches ban.
Thomas Moore completes a suspension too.
Top scorer Neil Harvey swelled his season goals tally to 16 with the winner against Hednesford Town in midweek, a win that strengthens his team’s hold on a play-offs place.
